He mourned mankind, and the blindness of men, who thought that the Kosmos had rules and limits that would shelter them from their own freedom. There were no shelters. There were no final purposes. Futility, and freedom, were Absolute.

We must act in a world that is beyond our understanding.

  • Uncertainty is subjective, each person interprets the world within the limits of their own perspective.
  • Uncertainty cannot be measured or eliminated, “we don’t see what we don’t see”.
  • Uncertainty grows as knowledge grows, the more you know the more you perceive how much you still don’t know.
  • Uncertainty supports both the status quo and creativity, if the future is unknowable you must explore to grow.
  • Embracing uncertainty requires openness of thought and a change in terminology. Problem, cause, solution become situation, pattern, approach.

Being smart in this environment requires the ability to extract deeper, more abstract information from the flood of data that comes into our senses.
